Get ready for October 7-9, Bearcats! Homecoming weekend is upon us, with plenty of fun activities for alumni and students alike. After attending last year, I know I will definitely be going again. This is the perfect opportunity to show off your #BingPride while also making great memories with your friends. Don’t miss this amazing weekend, and come to these amazing events!

Binghamton Block Party

Start the weekend off right and witness the transformation of Washington Street into a huge celebration of Bearcat pride. Grab delicious food from vendors, including Binghamton Hots, Craft, De Island Hut, Parlor City Vegan and Strange Brew, and dance the night away with live music. The party starts at 7 pm Friday, October 7. Food, drinks and some Binghamton swag are available for $10/person!

Camille Thurman ’09 and the Darrell Green Quartet

Head to the Anderson Center’s Chamber Hall on Saturday, October 8 to see ’09 Binghamton alumna Camille Thurman join the Darrell Green Quartet for a jazz concert sure to fill the soul! Thurman is a renowned jazz saxophonist and composer who represents the University’s greatest talent and commitment. He will also host a free master class before his show. Buy tickets on the Anderson Center website!

Black Student Union (BSU) Awards Show

BSU is hosting its own exhibition, “Binghamtopia: The Road to Black Joy,” featuring bright and colorful images. Their aim is to prove happiness and how it can be used as a healing and anti-stress tool. Buy tickets at the door for $20 and support your fellow students as they rehearse and dance at this artistic evening on Friday, October 7!

Men’s soccer game

Watch the men’s soccer team take on Albany in the annual Homecoming game! As someone who loves sports, I will definitely be in the crowd of students and adults. Cheer for the Bearcats and dance to the tunes of the pep band starting at 6:07pm Saturday, October 8. Be sure to purchase your tickets online, as they sell out fast. purchase.

Second Memorial Wenzel 5k

What better way to start your day than with a run in the yard! The 3.1-mile run/walk was one of my favorite things I did last year and will definitely be a hit for those looking to get some good exercise. and the renewal of autumn weather. Join me at 9 am on Saturday, October 8 and register online to support the family of Greg Wenzel – and take your daily steps early!

Bring your car, friends and an empty stomach for the weekend’s many events! Come down to the Events Center from 3-6 pm Saturday, October 8 to enjoy great food and drinks and live music. Don’t forget to wear your green!
