Businesses in East Texas host log or treat events for families | Whuff News

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Businesses in East Texas are gearing up for family fun this evening.

“I think it’s cool, and I think it’s really cool,” said Isaac, along with his sister Ivy. “I think I’m having a good day today.”

Children from East Texas hit the trunks or make crafts this evening to load up on candy, play games and have some great family fun.

The owner of Sweet Creations Cake and Catering Co, Jodi Bell, said it has been ten weeks since they opened and this is their way of thanking the community of Longview for supporting them.

“I have grandchildren and the reality is that grandchildren make you think about what to do for other children,” Bell said. “Once again, Longview has been amazing, the community has been very supportive of us and we just thought we would give back to the community a little bit.”

The owner of Atkinson Candy Co, Sarah Atkinson, says they get good feedback every year as the kids and parents enjoy it, so they keep doing it.

“Everyone always enjoys this event, it’s great fun and the kids get extra candy,” Atkinson said. “The candy is made right here in Lufkin, so we can share our sweets with the children of our community.”

He said, the event is an opportunity for them to share happiness with the whole country.

“We truly believe that we don’t make candy, we make fun,” Atkinson said.

The general manager at Patterson Nissan in Longview, Matt Schillings, said they like to support the community and think this event will be fun for the kids.

“Well, you know a lot of free candy, good food, and maybe some face painting,” Schilling said. “The only thing the kids are happy about is that.”

Most importantly, what did Angel and his baby brother enjoy most after treatment?

“I loved the games!” Angel said.
