Inside the Canon EOS R6 Mark II is a new 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor paired with Canon’s latest DIGIC X processing engine. The new Canon camera supports Dual Pixel CMOS AF II.

Continuous shooting

Thanks to this technology, the R6 Mark II is Canon’s fastest EOS camera, with continuous shooting speeds of up to 40fps with the electronic shutter and 12fps with the mechanical shutter. What’s more, Canon’s new sensor design helps reduce rolling lock, allowing you to freeze fast-moving subjects with the electronic shutter.

The EOS R6 Mark II boasts a RAW Burst mode that starts recording action half a second before the action begins. Designed for photographers shooting unpredictable subjects such as sports or wildlife, RAW Burst mode allows the R6 Mark II to shoot continuously at 30fps for up to 191 frames, all with AF tracking and recording each frame in a single CR3 file. You can then extract a frame from this file in-camera or in Canon’s DPP software and save it as a JPEG, HEIF or Raw file.

IBIS

Like other recent EOS R system cameras, the EOS R6 Mark II uses In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) which provides up to 8 stops of stabilization when paired with Canon’s RF lenses with Optical IS.

Canon claims the EOS R6 Mark II can be used handheld for vibration-free shots at light levels as low as -6.5EV. The camera offers a maximum native ISO of 102,400.

Video

Like many of the latest EOS R system cameras, the Canon EOS R6 Mark II is built for hybrid shooting. It can record 4K at 60p UHD with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focus. Its 4K footage is created by overclocking the sensor’s 6K output.

Users can record 6K raw footage when using the Atomos Ninja V+ recorder via the camera’s HDMI output.

Canon claims to have improved the camera’s circuit design, allowing for longer recording times. With the EOS R6 Mark II, Canon can shoot 40 minutes of over-the-top 4K video at 60p or up to six hours when shooting in 4K at 30p. Maximum recording time was 30 minutes with the original EOS R6.

Pre-recording is also available in video mode. When enabled, the EOS R6 Mark II will record up to 5 seconds before you press the record button so you never miss a moment.

Other video options include Canon Log 3, focus breath correction and a slow-motion mode that captures footage in Full HD at up to 17982fps.

relationship

Canon has updated the R6 Mark II’s Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, allowing you to not only connect the camera to your smart device, but also share files via ftp/ftps/sftp. You can also control the R6 Mark II remotely via Canon’s updated Camera Link and EOS utility apps, or use it as a webcam.
