Canon publishes quarterly Amazon download data | Whuff News


Canon Inc. During the third quarter of 2022, the company successfully removed a total of 1171 infringing listings using Amazon’s reporting tool in Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands. As of June 2018, Canon has reportedly removed more than 29,000 third-party laser toner cartridge listings from these six European-based Amazon platforms that infringe the company’s European patents.

In contrast, Canon has since June 2018 removed 3,400 laser toner cartridge infringement listings from Amazon forums in the US, Canada and Mexico since June 2010. Of these, 92 listings were removed in the third quarter of this year.

Canon is one of the companies using Amazon’s various tools to fight infringing product listings around the world. The publication of Canon’s download data provides fascinating insight into the volume of counterfeit goods on Amazon and the consistency with which rights holders must track listings and take appropriate action. It will be interesting to see if Canon’s persistence as a deterrent and eventually reduces the number of details to breach toner cartridges.
