Diwali Pahat events in Pune go live with enthusiasm this year | Pune News | Whuff News

PUNE: Early morning classical music concerts have been synonymous with Diwali celebrations in Pune for three decades. A concert held to ring in the festival, many Diwali Pahat programs will be organized in different parts this year, after being hosted online due to Covid restrictions for the last two years.
At Tilak Smarak Mandir, Sadashiv Peth, citizens can participate in two different arrangements. On Sunday, comedian Bha Di Pa will perform a musical and comedy show, and on Monday, popular singers Amey Jog, Yogita Godbole, Chandrashekhar Mahamuni and Radhika Atre will perform a performance of Marathi dance songs and new songs.
Sarang Sathe from Bha Di Pa told TOI, “We organized a show like this three years ago where we collaborated with a band that performed santwani music in rock format. This year it will be The artistes performed skits with various musical instruments, followed by Marathi stand up acts and three comics.”
A devotional music concert titled ‘Bhaktirang’, organized by Kalashree Sangeet Mandal and the Aundh Social Foundation, at the Anandban Club, Aundh, on October 24, 5. 30am, will feature the father-son duo Shrinivas Joshi and Viraj Joshi along with vocalists Shaswahti Chaitanya and Abhaysingh Waghachoure. They will be joined by Gangadhar Shinde on harmonium, Pandurang Pawar on tabla and Gambhir Mahajan on Pakhavaj.
Shrinivas Joshi, said, “Apart from the concert in Aundh, this year I will also get a rare opportunity to perform at Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sanjeevan Samadhi Mandir on October 22. Most of the concerts in throughout the year it is organized in the evenings and it is rare for artists to perform in such early hours of the day. Diwali Pahat did not have the special event during my grandfather Pandit Bhimsen Joshi’s time, but these days it is organized all these things.”
The Zapurza Museum of Art and Culture will host a concert titled ‘Swaradeepawali’, where artists like violinist Rajas Upadhye, guitarist Prateek Rajkumar, percussionist Rohit Deo and keyboardist Aman Warkhedkar, and singers Rashmi Moghe and Malavika Dixit will perform classical music. Kathak dancer Nidhi Prabhu will also perform on Sunday at 6am.
“It is only in Diwali Pahat concerts that artists can perform morning ragas and we look forward to it throughout the year. We all love to perform in Kudje village behind the lake under heaven,” said Prateek Rajkumar.
Another event, ‘Diwali Pahat Maifeel’, with Pandit Raja Kale will be organized by Dr Vasantrao Deshpande Memorial Foundation at Ramkrishna More Natyagruha, Chinchwad on October 24.
In some areas, entrepreneurs are also organizing Diwali Pahat programs so that local people can join them and celebrate the festival.
At Lonkar Garden in Salunke Vihar, the former company of Nanda Lonkar is organizing a Diwali Pahat program featuring Himmat Kumar and the Party, a live choir, who will present ghazals and Marathi recitals and Hindi as well as some traditional Hindustani media on October 22, 5. 30 am. “Last year, we organized the event after all the restrictions of Covid. This year will be better and better. In the spirit of togetherness, we invite people of the country to showcase the singing talent,” said Lonkar.
