Fiery, the Digital Front End (DFE) Digital Print Workflow Electronics for Imaging, Inc., has released a new innovative series of EFI Fiery DFE products – imagePRESS Server N500 and imagePRESS Server P400 – to support the new Canon imagePRESS V900 Series of digital printers. Featuring new hardware and the latest Fiery software, DFEs empower commercial print businesses and in-plant manufacturing facilities to automate setup tasks and break the long setup times professionals face when producing high-quality ink.
The new image press server N500 was on display at the Printing United trade show in the Canon USA exhibit, booth #N1009, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
“The combined power of the Image PRESS V900 Series and the new Fiery DFEs gives midsize print jobs access to cutting-edge technology to help maximize profit margins on every job,” said Shinichi “Sam” Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager of Canon USA, Inc. . “Customers can easily produce jobs using automation for pre-press and ready-to-use jobs to reduce printing errors and waste.”
The first of the new Fiery DFEs, the Canon imagePRESS Server P400, offers easy-to-use job management tools for in-plant facilities and mid-size production print shops to automate basic workflows. The second, the Canon imagePRESS server N500, is superior to the areas required in the medium-sized production segment. High-powered, high-value press automation capabilities increase what print organizations can do with their production equipment.
“Our new DFE platforms offer higher processing speeds and increased capacity. These are innovative solutions that help save time and reduce costs with superior quality,” said John Heinz, vice president of sales and marketing, EFI Fiery. “Today’s market is highly competitive and labor intensive. Fiery DFEs help in-plant plants and print shops to operate at a high level and meet the demands of the market.
Consistent high color quality
New, highly-advanced Express Media Color Manager and Auto Recall features for Image PRESS Server P400 and N500 DFEs, easy-to-use set-and-forget automation tools enable operators with little color management knowledge to produce accurate and consistent color. Creating and editing a custom profile for new media requires no operator decision making. Additionally, the DFE automatically performs recalibration programs to help maintain color consistency without complex procedures or extensive operator training.
High production, low waste and fast preparations
The Fiery solutions that form the backbone of these two new DFEs use Fiery FS500 Pro technology. With this new platform, Fiery DFE RIP is now even faster. Users can complete more jobs per shift, reducing turnaround time once and for all, with a high-capacity RIP engine that can process dynamic-data-heavy documents or graphic-intensive photobooks up to 36% faster.
With the Fiery technology behind the new imagePRESS Server N500 and imagePRESS Server P400, print users can quickly change jobs, helping to optimize their digital press capabilities and increase daily output.
The Image Press Server N500 comes standard with Fiery Preflight, software that automatically processes missing spot colors or low-resolution images before printing. Print shops can produce high-quality jobs and personalized prints with the Adobe PDF Print Engine 5.5 workflow. Another innovative feature included with this DFE, Fiery JobExpert software, can automatically program the best way to get a job done.
