FALLS CHURCH, VA – When October arrives, it’s time for some spooky Halloween parties and other fall festivities.

Falls Church has things to do for all ages throughout the month. Check out family events like Sunset Cinema, Farm Day and Halloween Carnival. Adults can enjoy the holiday at Legwarmers 80s Halloween Night: the Haunted Theater or Settle Down Easy Brewing’s Haunted Halloween.

Ichabod: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow: October 6-30

Enter the world of Sleepy Hollow in this adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic story about the Headless Horseman. Shows are on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm and 7pm.

Sunset Cinema: Friday, October 7, 7:30 pm

Cherry Hill Park, 312 Park Avenue, Falls Church, VA

Fall weather sets the stage for Falls Church’s Sunset Cinema Series. Sunset Cinema’s final performance of the year is “The Goonies” at 7:30 pm on Friday, October 7. Attendees can bring blankets and a picnic for the movie viewing. . Drinks, popcorn and food can be purchased with cash only. In case of inclement weather, the drawing will be rescheduled for the following Friday.

Garden Day: Saturday, October 8, 10am to 3pm

Cherry Hill Park, 312 Park Avenue, Falls Church, VA

This annual event combines traditional farm activities with modern entertainment for the whole family. There will be a petting zoo, pony rides, pumpkin painting, scarecrows (bring your own long pants and a sleeveless shirt), live music, tours of the Cherry Hill Farmhouse and buildings , metalworking models and more. It’s free, but some activities are paid. Tickets are $1 and activity prices range from one to seven tickets. Tickets are only available at Cherry Hill Park or on credit at the Falls Church Community Center. See a map of the event here.

FCPD Mason District and Friends Trunk-or-Treat: Wednesday, October 12, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Woodrow Wilson Library Park, 6101 Knollwood Drive, Falls Church, VA

Join Fairfax County Police and others for a trick-or-treating session. To register a log for the event, email PFC Evan Dicker at Evan.Dicker@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Legwarmers 80s Halloween Night: the Haunted Theatre: Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29, 9:30 pm

State Museum, 220 N. Washington Street, Falls Church, VA

The Legwarmers will provide music for the State Theatre’s 80s Retro Halloween Dance Party. The State Theater will be an epic 80s festival, and there will be cash prizes for the top three costumes. Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9:30pm

Halloween Carnival: Saturday, October 29, 1pm to 3pm or 3:30pm to 5:30pm

This award-winning event features awesome fun like games, inflatables, candy, food bars, and more. Mount Daniel Elementary’s first graders will also have performances at 1:05pm and second graders at 3:35pm to encourage children. dress up and bring a goody bag to collect goodies.

Wristbands are required to participate in all activities. Tickets are $1 and are required for children 2 and older. Tickets are good for one time: 1pm to 3pm or 3:30pm to 5:30pm

In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Falls Church Community Center, 223 Little Falls Street. Cars must be parked outside the center.

Kids Halloween Party at VFW Post 9274: Saturday, October 29, 12 pm to 4 pm

Join VFW Post 9274 for food, fun, games and goody bags for kids.

Settle Down Easy Brewing’s Haunted Halloween: Saturday, October 29, 5pm to 10pm

Settle Down Easy Brewing, 2822 Fallfax Drive, Falls Church, VA

Join Settle Down Easy Brewing for music by the Wharf Rats, a costume contest and the debut of its Berry Buried.
