Best Buy is offering a new 14-inch Asus laptop for just $169.99 (opens in new tab). You’ll want to run, not walk, to get this deal because it’s one of the cheapest ways to get straight into Windows 11 – in fact, it might be one of the cheapest Windows laptops we’ve seen this year.
If you’re going back to school but can’t find a back-to-school laptop deal, Best Buy might be the best place to get one of the best laptops for students.
For the price, this Asus offers a very capable laptop experience. The processor is a little on the modest side, but the included eMMC storage is fast enough. There’s only 4 GB of RAM though, which is worth noting if you’re looking for a gaming machine, or something for more intensive tasks like audio/video editing. For gaming, you’re better off using something like the Levono Legion 5i Pro.
The 14-inch display has HD resolution, and the whole thing weighs less than 3 pounds, making it perfectly portable to take from lecture to dorm and back again. While there’s no SD card port, it’s worth noting that there’s HDMI which makes it easy to connect to a larger display for presentations.
Basically, it’s a Windows laptop at the price of a Chromebook, which is impressive given the extra functionality Windows provides, albeit with more modest specs.
You can add a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, which includes educational essentials like Word, Excel, Outlook and OneDrive, for $69.99 at checkout as well – saving almost $20 on the standard price.
User reviews have been positive, with many citing excellent value for money even at a starting price of $349.99, while battery life has also been praised. Some even say it’s a great backup PC, and even capable of running Linux.
