What is a coincidence?
Shawn Hessinger: Let’s talk about the specifics because you’re not a supporter of them. Maybe you can talk a little about why people do it, or whether it’s a good or bad idea to try to pull someone, depending on your resources.
Monique Johnson: Hybrid is trying to marry the personal with the visual when we’re talking about a specific conference or event. There was a Hybrid before, but before the disease, it was mostly an experience. In other words, it’s more like, “let’s publicize this” or, “well, we’re going to get a crowd.” But there was no real attention to them. There is no audience engagement, and the participant who is watching the special side can type in the chat. And many people don’t have a chat room or moderator.
The reason I am not a supporter of the hybrid is because of four things:
- During the disease, it is an emergency. And most of the time people think today that’s fine. However, it is not good and people need to understand. And since we are inundated with Zooms, Zoho meetings, and all kinds of special situations, people are used to talking about it, even though they are sick on the Zoom phone all day. So, if you’re going to do a special event, you can no longer do something like, we’re going to install a camera, come into the virtual platform and that’s it. You can’t do that, and you need a chat model.
- When you create a mixed effect, you have two audiences. You have those who are in person and those who are special. As a result of that, you have to think about how you can engage all the listeners at the same time.
- if you are going to do the hybrid, think that you are doing something in person that does not need to happen at the same time for those on the virtual. Suppose you are going to have people do a real exercise or something like that. They are almost, of course, unable to participate. So, at that time, if you can provide another host or maybe go backstage while they are in person, do an exercise, and you adjust them almost to do something else or something like that.
- Finally, depending on the type of thing you’re doing… let’s say you’re doing a subscription or a sales event where you plan to give away something or give away a offer, a program etc., what we have seen, at least in the last year or more, those who are doing the exercises have a higher conversion rate than those in person. So there is one thing.
As you know, the hybrid is more difficult. But if you really want to serve your people and do it appropriately, intentionally, and by example, these are some of the first things you should think about, because, otherwise, what unlucky.
So, decide, whether you are going to do it virtually or you are going to do it personally. But marrying two is a challenge. And as a moderator, you have to keep all the audience involved.
How to Start Your Own Organic Farm
Shawn Hessinger: So, I’ve decided that I want to do something special. How do I get started?
Monique Johnson: For what we do at Live Video Lab, we really focus on the experience. And when we say experience, we mean what do you want your audience to feel? Whether they choose to work with you or not, you still want them to feel special. You want to make sure they leave with something. Make sure that whenever your event is listed out and brainstormed, you ask what they can get away with.
So, for me, this is the biggest or the most important first step is the experience that they will feel, or they will see just by touching all five senses, because the indeed, we are dealing with a lot and something special, and you host one all about energy management. We are dealing with the small box, and that is one thing. I carry most of the small box that you see on this camera frame. And most of the time people don’t think about that. Because if I retreat, it’s less fun. If I’m like, here, it’s different. Even something as simple as using common sense.
Another thing is because of the special things we can see in people’s environments. For example, you can see objects in my home office, even though the camera is very small. That picture behind me is Bob Marley, and you’d be surprised how often it starts conversations. People love Bob Marley!
Which Platform is Best for Special Events?
Shawn Hessinger: Let me ask a specific question. Condition-wise, if you’re trying to decide when to do something special, how do you decide based on what technology you’re going to use to do the special thing?
Monique Johnson: There are so many different types of social media out there, especially in social media. To put it in two big groups, there is the meeting meeting type of foundations and what they say is special for special things. Therefore, they try to simulate as much as possible what happens to the person happens almost.
I mean buy the ticket, and do a check-in. There are special principles for that. So, the second type I mentioned, let’s get that out of the way quickly because, frankly, I’m not a big fan of them. Most of the time they do it for big companies development level or conference type if you want. And to me, it’s just glitter sprinkled on a webinar. With them, there is not much interaction.
Now let’s talk about the different types of digital conferencing. So special meetings are not new. And then the disease, people are like, “What is this Zoom? I’ve never seen it before!” These meetings are special types of foundations, right, allowed for two ways. I’m talking about the two way- way I can see you- and you can see me.
Now, of course, you can add different things. You can also take some of the things that they are doing in the development stage and bring them to the Zoom conference type stage. You will be surprised that you, as a manager and host, can see what you are talking about. You can look in, and people are giving you permission to see where they are.
If you have the right tools, you can make schedules of your audience as if you were there in person and you could actually see them. You can call my name. Hey, Shawn, “How are you!” People are like…wait…oh, yeah, they can see me, right?! Opposite of other development situations you can’t see. And to me, it’s just a big missing piece that’s just giving an extension of the lack of connection or connection. Because we are special, yes, that is the best thing about the individual is the connection, the body, the energy. And if you can’t see them, honestly, to me, what’s the point? There is no point. So, when it comes to choosing a professional foundation, consider those things.
