October at San Diego State University will be full of energy and excitement as fall celebrations and events continue throughout the month.

With the fall semester in full swing, there are many activities on campus that make it easier for students to participate in campus life. These events are open to students who want to expand their college education in the arts, a new hobby, or a small research break between their classes. First-year and transfer students who are still adjusting to San Diego State University can begin to explore the resources and opportunities available to them and develop support systems that can last. their time at SDSU and beyond.

Health Week

Are you worried about classes and homework? Looking for new self-care ideas? Join SDSU’s African Student Union (ASU) in their health week! Get started Monday, October 3 yes Saturday, October 8, you can enjoy a series of events that will help you relax and clear your mind with other students. From journaling about different motivations to hiking the Cowles Mountain Trail, ASU has what you need to relieve stress. Everyone is welcome to join! Strange Things in the States

San Diego is a little different this month, and so is Montezuma Hall in the Conrad Prebys Student Union. up Wednesday, October 5 from 6pm – 8pm. will be hosted by the Aztec Student Union Board Strange Things in the Statesinspired by the Netflix show, Strange Things. Take it back to the 80s with roller coaster games and throwback games. Welcome to Hawkins!

SDSU’s 25th Annual Family Weekend

Mark your calendar because this weekend is for family and friends! Join other students and their families at the end of Family Week this year. up Friday, October 7, the University will host welcome checks, campus games, a Black Excellence Historical Tour, and a Picnic & Serenade event. up Saturday, October 8, families can meet the SDSU staff for brunch in the morning and then enjoy the football tailgate at night. Events range from open houses at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center to sessions at the Latinx Resource Center. Movie: Monster House

The awesome season is here! What better way to enjoy Halloween than watching one of the best movies from our childhood, Monster House! The Aztec Student Union board will host a movie night at Monday October 17 c 6:30 p.m. The event will be held in the theater on the 2nd floor of the Conrad Prebys Student Union. Introduction to Camping

Have you pitched a tent before? If the answer is no, this is the class for you. This beginner’s course will cover the proper techniques for setting up tents, different types of shelters, sleeping comfortably on the ground, different types of sleeping bags and mattresses, how to start and start a fire, how to cook food and fruits, treatment of drinking water, and the best way to go to the bathroom in the forest. This program is free, and exclusive to SDSU students. The first school Wednesday, October 26, 4pm-6pm. outside the Aztec Recreation Center. Recorded on the Aztec Recreation App will open up Saturday, October 12, at 3pm.

2022 Halloween Movie Trailer Friends

Scary, creepy, funny fun! Of the 2022 Halloween Movie Trailer Friends it’s getting close! A selection of creative short films by student filmmakers from the San Diego State University Television, Film, and New Media Production program will premiere in the Student Union Theater to the Friday, October 28 at 7:30 pm For many of the TFM students who worked on these short films, this is the first time that their original projects will be shown in public. Come and congratulate creative students and enjoy a collection of inspiring student stories. Tickets will be sold for $10 per person.

Spelling Bee

Start at the top Fridays, Oct. 28 through Nov. 3SDSU’s School of Theater, Television, and Film will be performing the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Dir. Jesca Prudencio) on the Don Powell Stage at 7:30pm Shows will be held on Sundays 2 p.m matinees The game follows a special group of sixth graders who make it to the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, each determined to win for different reasons. In funny, touching, and catchy songs, each speller reveals their hopes, struggles, and passions as they progress through the competition. Student tickets are $17 per person. General tickets are $20 per person.

Family Fall Festival

On Halloween, keep the holiday fun going as SDSU kicks off this year’s Family Celebration! The Pep Rally will be held in the Goldberg Courtyard of the Conrad Prebys Student Union. There will be a variety of activities, events, and activities that SDSU residents will enjoy! Don’t miss your chance to share in the SDSU spirit! The Pep Rally is coming up 12pm to 2pm on Monday, October 31.
