November 5
Sabine Hill Guided Tour — 1pm – 2pm Meet at the Sabine Hill Historic Site. Register for the event. Cost: Children 6 and under free, $5/Age 7-17, $9/Adult. Join Park Ranger Cory Franklin for a guided tour of this beautiful home built by Mary Patton Taylor, wife of Brigadier General Nathaniel Taylor. The site has been described as one of the best examples of Federal architecture in the State of Tennessee. During your visit you will have the opportunity to take in the colorful interiors and art galleries as you learn about the famous Taylor family that called Sabine Hill home in the early 19th century.
Sabine Hill is located at 2328 West G Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
Please note, only portable toilets are available at this time. Access to the house has stairs and an internal staircase. The tour may be canceled in the event of inclement weather.

November 6
Carter Mansion Guided Tour — 1pm – 2pm Meet the Historic John and Landon Carter Mansion, 1031 Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Register for the event. Cost: Children 6 and under free, $5/Age 7-17, $9/Adult. Join Interpreter Slade Nakoff for a tour of Tennessee’s oldest home! Discover the secrets of this beautiful neighboring house and learn the history of the family that was built between 1775 and 1780.
Access to the house has stairs and an internal staircase. The tour may be canceled in the event of inclement weather.

November 8
Ranger Guided Bike Ride — 10 am – 11 am Meet at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park Visitor Center. Cost is $5 and registration is required for the event. Join Ranger Davis for a ranger-led bike ride along the Tweetsie Trail to the Elizabethton Covered Bridge, then back to the park via the Elizabethton Linear Bridge. The total length of the tour is about 6 miles and takes about one hour depending on the level of fitness of the participants. Portions of the road will not be suitable for towing vehicles. NO CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS OLD.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring your own water and bike.
Programs will be canceled/rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

November 9
Tomahawk Training Course — 10 am – 11 am Meet at Fort Watauga. Cost is $5 and registration is required for the event. Discover the unique skill of 18th century tomahawk throwing by joining Ranger Jason Davis for a hands-on training. Topics will include the many uses of the tomahawk in the early American Frontier as well as proper and effective techniques for throwing it safely and accurately. No children under 12. Parents who wish to attend but do not need to register.
Please dress appropriately for the weather. Bring your own water; all other supplies will be provided. Please do not bring your own tomahawk unless it is an 18th century design. It is not a self-defense class.

November 10

Autumn Heritage Celebration – Saturday 10-4, Sunday 10-3
Colonial Harvest Celebration – Join in the festivities at Fort Watauga as the Washington County Militia gathers to celebrate recent victories in the Revolutionary War and give thanks for the many the harvest. Enjoy illustrations of 18th century life and living history.
Fall Fibers Fair – Fall is when we plan our winter projects and our handmade holiday gifts! Spend a day visiting the best fiber manufacturers and artists! The day will include workshops, vendors and crafts for sale, yarn, and demonstrations of spinning, weaving, and more!

November 12

Watauga Valley Art League — Winterfest Art Show — Visitor Center business hours. Meet at the park visitor center. Start the holidays at Sycamore Shoals! The Watauga Valley Art League Winterfest show and sale is a great opportunity for holiday shopping! Art from the Watauga Valley Art League will remain on display during regular park hours through December 4.
