DAVIS, Calif. – In Saturday afternoon’s action, the UC San Diego women’s swimming and diving team defeated UC Davis on the road after winning the strokes. 13 out of 14 games.

The Triton women had a final score of 174.5 to the Aggies’ 118.5.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
Taking first in 13 events, the Tritons were led by their upperclassmen, Jordan Phillips, Miranda Renner, Mother Reuter, July Arzaveand Katja Pavicevic, which was the first of many events. Leading off the meet with a win, the 200-yard medley team consisting of Phillips, Pavicevic, Renner, and Reuter posted a time of 1:41.60 to place 11 points over the the board for gold and blue.

Phillips and Renner continue the lead in the next three games. In the 100-yard backstroke, Phillips added nine points to the board with a time of 56.89, trailing the UCD swimmers by 0.67 seconds. Renner’s second win came in the 50-yard freestyle. He posted a 23.74 time with his team Mackenzie Lee complete 0.15 seconds later. Posting a time of 55.79 in the 100-yard butterfly, Phillips earned third place. Finishing first for the third time on the day, Renner took the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.60. The pair’s decision was made in the next game. They swam first and anchored with Lee and Reuter holding second and third place. The team posted a time of 1:34.04 to add the final 11 points to the Tritons’ lead.

Arzave and Pavicevic each had 18 points in the Tritons’ final score. Arzave took first in the 500-yard freestyle and 1650-yard freestyle with teammate Sophia Bell second. Pavicevic took first in the 100-yard breaststroke, nearly three seconds faster than second. In his third place finish, Pavicevic posted a time of 2:13.48, which was five seconds ahead of his competitors.

Aneta Wyzga took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.99 and added a total of 15 points to the Tritons’ scoring. Lexi DePaco added to his 14 points the day before in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.32.

SHIPPING
The Triton team started their journey at 4 am with the head coach Marko Djordjevic said, “I’m glad we got the game we did against another MPSF team. They showed great strength despite a tough day of travel.”

Looking ahead he added, “We’ll be off tomorrow, but we’ll be back at it Monday morning to get ready for another busy week with Cal, Pepperdine, and UC Santa Barbara on Friday and Saturday.”

DOWN NEXT
UC San Diego returns home to host the Cal women’s team on Nov. 4 at the Canyonview Aquatic Center. They will then join the Pepperdine men’s team to take on host UC Santa Barbara in a tri-meet on Nov. 5 in Malibu, Calif.

DAVIS, Calif. – The Aggies participated in their first MPSF meet of the season as they defeated UC San Diego at the Schaal Aquatics Center. The Tritons won the conference opener, 174.5-118.5

Senior Sydney Wren it was the high score of the day for the Aggies after winning the 1 Meter Diving competition (182.50) and placing third in the 3 Meter Diving (180.70).

Sophomore Sam Rhodes won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:27.59.

The Aggies have two weeks off before pool play. November 17 is the next meeting for the Aggiesth-19th as they participate in the Trailblazer Invitational hosted by the Utah Institute of Technology in St. George, Utah.
