This week’s events:
The West Fargo Public Library is collecting donations of new socks to benefit the Golden Drive Homeless Kids organization. Donations can be dropped off in the box near the library’s service desk through the month of October.

Wednesday, October 12
10:30 – 11:30 am, Ready to Read News Stories
On Wednesdays, children ages 3 to 5 are invited to read, play and create at the West Fargo Library during Ready to Read Stories. Each week, children and caregivers learn important early reading and writing skills by reading stories, doing activities, making pictures, singing, poetry and play together.

1 – 3 pm, ND Career Services Available at West Fargo Library
Staff from Job Service North Dakota will be at the West Fargo Public Library from 1 to 3 pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Job Service North Dakota staff will be available to offer job search assistance, senior services, information about training programs, rebuilding assistance, limited insurance assistance, and services of foreign and temporary farm workers.

6 p.m., Free Screening “The Public” (PG-13)
The West Fargo Public Library is offering a free screening of “The Public” at 6 p.m. October 12 as part of their month-long celebration of World Homeless Day. This event is free and open to the public, however, seating is limited to the first 30 attendees. The film is rated PG-13. Popcorn will be provided.

Thursday, October 13
5:30 pm, Monthly Library Committee Meeting
The regular monthly meeting of the West Fargo Public Library Board will be held at 5:30 pm Thursday, October 13 in Conference Room 1 at the West Fargo Public Library.

6 – 8 pm, Technology Tutors Available at West Fargo Library
West Fargo Public Library volunteer tutors are available to help with topics such as: regular computers, tablets, eReaders or smart phones; basic internet and research skills; set up email or news bulletins; learning how to use software and websites; and streaming and downloading digital media. Friday, October 14
10:30 – 11:30 am, Baby Boost Storytime
Baby Boost Storytime at the West Fargo Public Library provides a safe and stimulating opportunity for children ages 2 and under and their caregivers to interact and develop language and social skills through an introduction to books, poems, symbols, and games. Activities from this role play also help to create an emotional connection between the child and the caregiver which helps to build a good relationship with learning and literacy.

Saturday, October 15
10am – noon, Teacher Technology Available at West Fargo Library
West Fargo Public Library volunteer tutors are available to help with topics such as: regular computers, tablets, eReaders or smart phones; basic internet and research skills; set up email or news bulletins; learning how to use software and websites; and streaming and downloading digital media. 10:30 – 11:30 am and 1:30 – 2:30 pm, Mojo Fit Family Yoga
Mojo Fit Studios is offering two Family Yoga classes on Saturday, October 15 at the West Fargo Public Library. Mojo Fit Family Yoga is intended for family groups of 1 child and 1 adult. Children will learn beginner yoga with their adults. There are two classes available, but they will offer the same instruction. Residents are asked to attend one session only. Monday, October 17
1:30 p.m., Monday Matinee Feature Film “Our Fires Keep Burning”
The West Fargo Public Library is showing a free movie every Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. This month’s theme is “Personal Story” part of the One Book, One Community program this year. All movies are free and open to the public. “Our Fires Keep Burning” is a one-hour unedited documentary that discusses the contemporary educational practices of Americans living in the Midwest. .

6:30 – 7:30 pm, Let’s Talk Money: Your Money, Your Goals
Learn how to set specific, realistic and achievable financial goals, budget and avoid limiting your goals, and a step-by-step guide to reducing debt and increasing your credit score in this session with John O’Day from Thrivent Financial. No registration required.

Tuesday, October 18

Come play a variety of games (including mahjong) provided by the West Fargo Public Library. Mahjong & More Community Game Time is free and open to the public. Players of all skill levels welcome.

6 – 8 pm, Stories with Ojibwe and Lakota Elders
Hear stories and songs about Ojibwe and Lakota life and culture at this public discussion hosted by the West Fargo Public Library and Christy Goulet. Stories with Ojibwe and Lakota Elders is a wonderful opportunity to hear stories/songs told and narrated with Mr. Emery St. John is a member of the Crow Creek Lakota Tribe, Fort Thompson, SD. Clifford Young Bear will entertain and inspire any attendee to appreciate Lakota culture! Christy Goulet, an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa, will also share her experience, strength, and hope of personal experiences as a woman.
